HAT-TRICK OF BREAKFAST CLUBS OPEN AT HIGH SCHOOLS

The Town Foundation’s flagship ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club initiative continues to benefit the wider community with a hat-trick of High Schools now providing young adults with a nutritious start to the day.

Breakfast Club number 31 was launched at Thornhill Community Academy; only the second club that’s opened in the Thornhill area.

At 8am on Monday 9 July 2018, the young adults tucked in to a healthy breakfast of cereal, yogurt, fruit juice, toast and fresh fruit, whilst chatting the Club Ambassador Andy Booth about football, school and their career aspirations.

Alongside Andy Booth, Town Foundation staff, Trustee Caroline Lee and Jeanette Cartwright from Kirklees Catering also engaged in conversation with the youngsters ahead of their school day.

The Town Foundation also has a special link with Thornhill Community Academy, as the Deputy Head of the School, Matthew Burton, was appointed as the Charity’s Schools Ambassador in September 2016.

Mr Burton has helped Huddersfield Town with various school focus schemes in the past and is now keen to see students at his school benefit from the good work done by the Town Foundation.

The Town Foundation’s Operations and Events Manager Julie Sheffield commented:

“Everyone at the Town Foundation is thoroughly delighted to have launched our 31st Breakfast Club, especially because it’s at a High School.

“Thornhill Community Academy is the third High School we are working with, alongside Netherhall and Westborough, and we are really passionate about all children having a healthy start to the day, no matter what age.

“I’d like to thank everyone at the school for making it such a fantastic morning. We always come away from the launches happy knowing that children or young adults are guaranteed a nutritious meal to start the day.

“As always, I’d like to thank the Foundation’s supporters – Town fans, other individuals and generous businesses – for their continued backing. Without you, we could not help so many children in our community in this manner.”
