Children’s writer Helena Pielichaty has become Huddersfield Town’s latest patron. The author of over thirty books for children and young adults, including a series on girls’ football, Helena was delighted to join us:
Helena’s family moved to Huddersfield when she was 16. She attended Huddersfield Girls’ High School’s sixth form but it wasn’t until she met her future husband, Pete, that she attended her first Huddersfield Town match, away to Wimbledon FC in 1981. Although she doesn’t live in Huddersfield anymore, she still returns whenever she can to catch a game.
‘I am honoured to be associated with the Town Foundation in this way and proud that the club I support has instigated two such crucial initiatives. Anything that promotes reading and the well-being of children is close to my heart. I hope my patronage will prove an asset to the Foundation’s mission.’
