Overview

The Town Foundation is the charitable arm of Huddersfield Town Football Club. As the Foundation continues to develop we wish to appoint a Disability Development Officer.

This role will work to design and develop Huddersfield Town Foundation’s disability programmes which will include:

-              Development of participation programmes

-              Organisation of relevant events

-              Volunteering opportunities for people with a disability

-              Development and delivery of a leadership programme for people with a disability which will provide links to education and employment opportunities in the Foundation, the Football Club and with our wider partners.

-              Promotion of inclusion throughout all areas of the Foundations delivery.

-              Design and delivery of staff and volunteer training/CPD around disability and inclusion practices.

Purpose of role

To deliver training opportunities to support and develop Huddersfield Town Foundation staff in delivering appropriate sessions to children and adults with disabilities.

To design and lead on the development of a leadership programme for people with a learning disability which will provide opportunities for volunteering, education and employment with the foundation, football club and its partners.

This will include partnership working, project management, delivery of quality training sessions, effective marketing and communications and the monitoring and evaluation of the programme/project.

The post holder will play an influential role in many people’s lives by promoting the club and its values, whilst also promoting the benefits of positive education, physical activity and community cohesion projects.

Key relationships

Internal – Head of Community, Heads of Inclusion, Education and Sport, Foundation Coordinators and Coaching Staff.

External – Kirklees residential care homes, Kirklees day centres, One Kirklees, Kirklees Active Leisure, Kirklees College, SEN Schools, Disabled People’s Organisations in Kirklees and nationally, relevant employment agencies and Huddersfield Town Disabled Supporters Group. And any other relevant partners or organisations to be determined.

Overview

This role will work to design and develop Huddersfield Town Foundation’s disability programmes which will include:

– Development and delivery of a leadership programme for people with a disability which will provide links to education and employment opportunities in the Foundation, the Football Club and with our wider partners.

– Promotion of inclusion throughout all areas of the Foundations delivery.

– Design and delivery of staff and volunteer training/CPD around disability and inclusion practices.

Key Tasks

Delivery:

-       To act as the main contact for the Premier League PL/BT Disability programme.

-       To design and deliver inclusion and disability specific related training/CPD to Huddersfield Town Foundation delivery staff. 

-       To lead on disability awareness training for Huddersfield Town Foundation.

-       To design and develop a leadership programme for people with a disability which will provide opportunities for volunteering and education with the Foundation, Football Club and its partners.

-       To set up and support an employment programme to support people with a disability gain experience and opportunities of employment with the Foundation, Football Club and its partners.

-       To become an active member of Huddersfield Town AFC equality working group.

-       To keep up to date with relevant CPD and qualification requirements.

 

Programme Management:

-       To effectively be able to develop project plans including timelines, key milestones and risk management.

-       To work closely with colleagues to ensure cross working within the Foundation, these will be as a minimum Women and Girls Coordinator, PL Kicks Coordinator, Primary Stars Coordinator and Coach Coordinator.

-       Effectively lead the development and delivery of designated projects and products.

-       To ensure the monitoring and evaluations of all projects is on track and up to date.

Communications and Marketing:

-       To lead on a communications plan to market and promote the Foundation’s disability offer.

-       To use innovative methods of promotion that are relatable to the target audience.

Working in Partnership:

-       To work in partnership with a range of different groups (Children and Young People, Adults, Schools, Community Organisations and the Local Authority) in relevant programmes and maintain positive relationships with them.

-       To look for new opportunities to build relationships with other delivery organisations, for Inclusion, Education, Health and Sport developments.

-       To work in partnership with staff members at the Football Club to contribute towards the development of equality across the Football Club as a whole.

Additional

-       To perform other duties as reasonably assigned or under the authority of the management team.

Essential Skills

-       Have previous experience of working in a sport and/or physical activity environment.

-       Have previous experience of designing and delivering training courses for a range of different audiences.

-       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-       Excellent organisation skills.

-       Ability to plan projects, events and organise information.

-       Ability to effectively communicate with partners and people from all backgrounds.

-       Ability to support and engage a range of different groups (Women and Girls, Children and Young People, Schools, Community Organisations, people with a disability, carers) in relevant programmes and maintain positive relationships with them.

-       Focused on achievement, targets, and continuous improvement of programme delivery.

-       Competent IT skills and use of Microsoft packages.

Qualifications

-       Relevant Degree Level Qualification or equivalent experience.

-       Safeguarding qualification or willingness to complete within first 6 weeks of employment.

-       First Aid qualification or willingness to complete within first 6 weeks of employment.

-       Full driving license and the use of a vehicle/or ability to travel throughout Kirklees.

Knowledge

-       Knowledge of sport development organisations and pathways from engagement to participation.

-       Knowledge of Huddersfield Town Foundation.

-       Knowledge of equality legislation.

-       Knowledge of inclusion and disability practices.

-       Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

Experience

-       Project management and event organisation.

-       Planning and delivering CPD to a range of audiences.

-       Monitoring and evaluation of programmes/projects.

-       Marketing and promotion of programmes/projects including: social media, website, flyers etc.

-       Working with a range of different groups including specifically those with disabilities, women and girls, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, Schools and more to be determined.

-       Working in partnership with a range of organisations.

-       Achieving set targets and outputs.

Desirable Skills

-       Experience of working in the Charitable sector.

-       Previous experience working at a Football Club Trust / Foundation.

-       AFPE Level 3 Supporting of PE and School Sport.

-       Qualified Teacher Status or Post Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector Qualification.

-       Experience in youth work.

-       FA Level 2 Football

-       FA Youth Module 1
