LOCAL CHILDREN TREATED TO A FREE TRIP TO THE CINEMA

250 guests comprising of local children and families were treated to a free trip to the Cinema, courtesy of the Town Foundation and Odeon Cinemas.

The children were invited to the 9.30am showing of Peter Rabbit at the Odeon Cinema, a computer-animated remake of the original stories created by Beatrix Potter, completely free of charge!

A range of Town Foundation Staff were in attendance to watch the film that was enjoyed by all! No trip to the cinema would have been complete without popcorn, as snacks and drinks were also made available to the children by the Town Foundation free of charge.

Parents were asked to email in their request for tickets, with them subsequently allocated on a first come first served basis.

The event was put on as another means of engaging and working with children in the local Huddersfield and surrounding area.

The Town Foundation’s Operations and Events Manager Julie Sheffield commented:

“I would like to thank both Huddersfield Town and the ODEON in Huddersfield for providing us with a cinema screen free of charge; I hope everyone enjoyed the morning!

“It’s great that we can put on these types of events providing children in the local area leisure activities free of charge.

“Schemes that remove cost, much like this one, eradicates financial barriers from children and parents, allowing them to enjoy a morning of free and fun activity during half-term.”

Thanks to the links between the Football Club and the Odeon, this is the second time the Town Foundation has linked up with the Odeon Cinema to put on an event such as this one. Last year, more than 250 parents and children enjoyed a showing of the comedy film SING and this year even more were able to enjoy the free activity!
