02 Jul GET TO KNOW OUR TRUSTEES!
Over the past few weeks, the Huddersfield Town Foundation has been introducing you to its Board of Trustees.
Louise Woollard, Martin Gonzalez, Caroline Lee and Ryan Virtue have explained their reasons for volunteering their spare time, in addition to expressing how they imagine the Foundation moving forwards.
This week we’ve posed the same questions to Janet Hoyle, who has played a key role in the development of its Breakfast Clubs over the years.
Without further ado, here’s what Janet had to say!
When did you join the Board of Trustees?
As the wife of former Chairman Dean Hoyle I have been a keen supporter of the Foundation from its inception in 2012. I formally took on the role of Trustee in 2016.
What do you do for work outside of The Foundation?
I retired from business several years ago which allows me to concentrate on my family and two dogs, it also enables me to have plenty of spare time to work with the Foundation.
What does your role as a Trustee entail and what skills do you bring from your work background?
As a Trustee I enjoy visiting and seeing first-hand many of the great projects the Foundation delivers. It fills me with great pride seeing the difference we make in our community.
As co-founder of the retail business Card Factory, I’m able to look at the Foundation from a commercial perspective. Prior to my retail career I worked in Community Mental Heath services, this gives me a broader understanding of community issues and the difficulties individuals can experience.
How do you see the Town Foundation’s vision and strategy changing or adapting going forwards?
Our current COVID-19 situation has hampered the way we are able to operate. However, I have been impressed by the way the Foundation has proved it can adapt and still deliver services.
What do you consider to be the biggest challenge faced by the Town Foundation?
As Trustees we have a constant need to raise funds to provide food to our 41 ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Clubs run in local schools. Due to COVID-19 many of our planned fundraising activities are unable to take place, so this is going to prove to be an extra challenge for the coming year.
