VACANCY: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Thank you for your interest in becoming our new Chief Executive at Huddersfield Town Foundation. A well-led organisation will always have a leader that inspires and energises those under their leadership. They will, ask the right questions and provide the requisite levels of rigour and reflection required for the organisation to grow, develop, and improve. It is the CEO’s ability to adopt and debate a variety of perspectives and options which will foster greater engagement and support from those delivering on behalf of the organisation by ensuring the organisation remains representative of and connected to the people who use, commission, fund, support or deliver its services.

To support the CEO, you can expect a board where insight and challenge, ownership, and accountability will be fully on display. A board which recognises the potential gaps between what the organisation says and what it does, and a board where difficult questions can be asked and addressed.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Charity as we embark on a period of significant transformational change. For over 10 years as the official charity of Huddersfield Town Football Club the Foundation has been inspiring people, creating opportunities, and working with other local organisations to deliver a variety of projects across Kirklees The Charity is an extraordinary place, and it is impossible not to feel a daily sense of pride at the collective dedication, knowledge and passion of its staff, and the sheer scale, depth, and quality of our services and support to those with whom it interacts. As we embark on a new phase, our priority is to ensure that we continue to evolve but also, transform our culture, support our people, but crucially, redouble our efforts as a Charity to succeed in our goal of being even stronger and more resilient than it was before. We are rooted in our community.

The unique needs of Kirklees are part of how we define our purpose, along with our passion for football and support our distinct set of knowledge and skills and the resources we can access to make it all happen. The Huddersfield Town Foundation can’t meet all the challenges that face our community but there are issues where we strongly believe we can make a difference. In summary we wish to serve new communities and new generations of users, and show football is truly for everyone.

As our new CEO, you will set the tone for the culture and transformation of the Foundation. Building on the success of recent years, but also, reviewing best practice in terms of operations and practice, this will include the operating structure of the Foundation. The CEO will be able to build strong and effective partnerships, including with, Huddersfield Town FC and the EFL.

On a day-to-day basis, internal visibility is as equally important as our external presence. Both must be equally balanced. Also important, will be your ability to be a “leader of leaders”. Management at all levels within the Foundation must be expected to raise to any new challenges, whilst embracing a positive culture of change. Collectively, all managers under your leadership are to nudge the Foundation forward on difficult, complex decisions, especially where consensus is hard to find.

As CEO you will bring a high degree of emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and soft power. You must also possess judgement, courage, and resilience. Being able to keep an ear to the ground, whilst acting as wise counsel are all vital characteristics.

This extremely important appointment comes at a time of genuine reflection within the sector. As such, given the importance of reflecting our communities within the Foundation, we are taking this opportunity to actively seek applications from individuals considered under-represented across all parts of the community, specifically by, gender and ethnicity.

If you believe that you have the background and pre-requisite skills and experience, then we want to hear from you. If appointed, you would be given training and support to enable you to fulfil all aspects of the CEO role. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have, and we look forward to receiving an application from you.

Dr Delroy Beverley CCMI
Chair of the Board of Trustees
