Town Foundation Opens 29th Breakfast Club

The Huddersfield Town Foundation has continued to help children in the local area by opening a 29th ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club at Paddock Junior, Infant and Nursery School.

The campaign, which was launched in October 2012, has provided over one million healthy and nutritious breakfasts for children in Kirklees and the surrounding area.

The launch at Paddock JI & Nursery School began at 7.45am, as around 40 excited children started their day with crumpets, toast and jam, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit and juice.

The youngsters, who thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast, were then entertained by the dancing Captain Booth and Terry the Terrier! The children also had their pictures taken with the official mascots.

As they ate, the children spoke to Town Foundation staff about their school day, the sports they enjoy playing and the lessons they like at school.

In attendance at the Breakfast Club launch were members of the Town Foundation team, Club Ambassador Andy Booth, Jeanette Cartwright from Kirklees Catering and trustees Janet Hoyle and Caroline Lee.

Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Operations and Events Manager, Julie Sheffield commented:

“Once again we were able to see the positive impact that the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Clubs have had on children in our community.

“The youngsters from Paddock JI & Nursery School had beaming smiles on their faces when they were tucking into their breakfasts and they thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

“It was great to welcome John Plant from G.W Price to the Town Foundation as well; he has very kindly supplied all the fresh fruit free of charge to the Breakfast Clubs.”
