10 Jul GET TO KNOW THE TOWN FOUNDATION TEAM: LISA BOTTOMLEY

Earlier this year, we started to introduce you to the Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Staff via graphics on Social Media.

To round off the Staff Profile Series, we’ve decided to get some more in depth answers from some other members of the team!

This week is the turn of Lisa Bottomley, who’s role as Fundraising Executive is a varied one and has also changed significantly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lisa joined the Town Foundation in February 2018 having previously worked in the Hospitality and Events Team at Huddersfield Town for 16 years.

That wealth of experience and knowledge of the local community has enabled her to introduce several new fundraising initiatives since joining two and a half years ago.

Without further ado, here Lisa explains a bit more about her role and life outside of work:

What has been your best day in the job so far?

There are so many great days to choose from! Visiting our Breakfast Clubs and seeing the happy children and the Big Sleep Out events are both fantastic. Every BSO has been very humbling, with the money raised making sleeping on the cold floor at the John Smith’s Stadium more than worthwhile.

Last year’s Foundation Ball was also a huge highlight – we didn’t think that we would raise anywhere near the amount we did. The generosity of the people that attended was unbelievable!

Top Series or Film

I watch a lot of different types of TV programmes and films. I am on with watching Killing Eve at the moment and I really enjoyed Designated Survivor and Homeland. I am also a huge fan of Batman, so I loved Gotham and anything else with Marvel Heroes!

Top Tip for Working from Home

It has been super challenging, working from home and trying to home school my two young children. Being organised has been a massive help – get a to do list ready the day before and break it down into five, it’s really satisfying to see the list getting shorter and it’s more achievable in smaller chunks.

Huddersfield Town

What’s your favourite song?

I really like Motown, 80’s & 90’s music. I have no idea what is currently in the charts but would probably know every word to Whitney Houston’s songs!

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lisa has played a key role in organising the Town Foundation’s Fundraising initiatives.
