FEMALE FOOTBALL ACADEMY GIVES 16-19 YEAR OLDS CHANCE TO PLAY AND STUDY COLLEGE COURSE

Have you just finished high school and are not sure what to do next? The Huddersfield Town Foundation’s new Female Football Academy may be just what you’re looking for!

Developed in partnership with Calderdale College, the academy gives 16-19-year-old girls the opportunity to train and play competitive football alongside studying towards any of the college’s qualifications.

Students will typically spend six to eight hours a week training and take part in education-based learning for 12 hours a week, although this number could change dependant on the course you’re studying.

As well as training, scholars will represent Huddersfield Town Foundation in the EFL Trust league, competing against teams from other Club Community Organisations.

There will also be the opportunity to complete the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football qualification, in addition to gaining work experience across Town Foundation programmes.

Should you join the programme, you will also have access to strength and conditioning sessions and nutritional workshops, delivered by the Foundation’s UEFA qualified coaches.

The programme is a fantastic pathway through to the Huddersfield Town Women’s team, who compete in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

Still not convinced? The Foundation and Calderdale College have teamed up to offer free football sessions in August 2020, these are open to anybody aged 16-19 whether you just want to get back to some pre-season football or are still undecided on your post 16 future!

Starting on Tuesday 4th August, there will be two-hour sessions from 3pm to 5pm every Tuesday and Thursday. These will include individual and small group coaching in line with Government guidelines.

For more information on these sessions, please see the image below.

The Town Foundation is excited to be working with Calderdale College, who have recently been recognised as the number one college in West Yorkshire for student results.

Students will spend the majority of their time based at the college on Francis Street, Halifax, with the practical sessions being delivered at the state of the art Inspire Centre.

Daniel Jarvis, Sports Academies Team Leader at Calderdale College, commented:

“We are extremely excited about the new women’s football academy and the potential it has to grow in to. Partnering with Huddersfield Town Foundation fits into our model of working with elite partners to expand the growth and opportunities we can offer our student athletes.

By offering the girls an exceptional education offer, a professional looking football environment and wider opportunities such as work experience and additional playing chances outside of the college, we feel that we offer the girls a complete experience during their time with the academy”.
