17 Dec ACADEMY PLAYERS VISIT NETHERHALL PRIMARY FOR SANTA STROLL

Huddersfield Town Academy players surprised children at Netherhall Primary School when they joined them for their Santa Stroll.

Conor Falls, Brodie Spencer, Shane Mardooza, David Adewoju and Evander Grubb all donned blue Santa suits to join the students on their Santa Stroll round the playground.

The Santa Stroll is an event run by the Town Foundation to as part of their Christmas Appeal, with families and individuals encouraged to walk a mile in their best festive wear. You can find more information by CLICKING HERE.

The Academy players also got involved as part of their National Citizen Service (NCS) Social Action Project.

Designed for 15-17-year olds across the country, NCS is a national programme which allows young people to take on new challenges, gain independence, and develop skills for life.

The Town Foundation has been delivering the programme to the squad at PPG Canalside, with sessions covering topics such as mental health & wellbeing, local democracy, getting to know the local area and public speaking.

We would like to express our thanks to the students and parents at Netherhall, one of the Town Foundation’s partner schools, for raising £95 from the event!

Evan Hall, NCS Coordinator for the Town Foundation, spoke about why it’s important for the players to give back to their local community.

“I think we’ve seen it recently with Marcus Rashford, especially in the headlines, about giving something back to the community.

“We’re trying to embed it early with the Academy boys, so it is really important for them to give something back to the community by doing something like this. It’s been really nice to see.”

Academy defender Shane Mardooza commented on how he found the morning.

“I think it’s been beneficial because we it’s where we were as well, we were at primary school and I didn’t get the opportunity to meet Academy players from clubs near me to come and sign autographs and take pictures with me.

“I think it’s a really good experience for these young kids to have the chance to speak to footballers who are part of a club near them.

“I think it’s been really fun to be honest, it’s very different to what I’m used to, but here you get to talk to people outside of the club and just get to understand everything so I think it been really cool and a really good experience.”
