TOWN FOUNDATION LAUNCHES NEW STRATEGY!

On Friday 28 January, the Huddersfield Town Foundation’s annual Wear Blue Day, a range of the charity’s partners and supporters gathered at the John Smith’s Stadium for the launch of its new strategy!

Around 50 people were in attendance at the Fantastic Media Suite of the John Smith’s Stadium, including representatives from the football club, local authority, Kirklees Council as well as other local stakeholders, charities and donors.

Guests heard from Town Foundation Chief Executive Siobhan Atkinson and Chair of Trustees Aidan Grills, as well as having a chance to network with staff of the Huddersfield Town Foundation.

Furthermore, attendees also visited the newly-rebranded Huddersfield Town Community Hub, located directly opposite the Core Stand Lower where students from the USW Foundation degree were taking part in lectures and seminars.

With the Town Foundation now in its 10th anniversary year, the timing was fitting to rebrand its look and strategy for the next three to five years.

To create the strategy, Salmon Consulting liaised with 250 sources (internal and external) to identify four key impact areas for the future:

  • Learning and education
    ● Health and healthy behaviours
    ● Safe spaces and places
  • Movement and activity

A key component of the new strategy is the Foundation’s mission statement:

To tackle the consequences of inequality by working to provide positive opportunities and support to the community of Kirklees.

On the strategy launch event, Chair of Trustees, Aidan Grills commented:

“I am proud of the legacy of the last 10 years for the Foundation and I am confident about the social impact we can achieve for the people of Kirklees in the coming years.”

Siobhan Atkinson, Chief Executive of the Town Foundation added:

“It was brilliant to have so many people that are key to the Foundation’s success together in one room.”

In this role you learn very quickly that collaboration is key to truly making a different to the lives of people in our community, and I’m delighted that we continue to maintain such worthwhile partnerships and forge new ones. Having a strategy gives us clear direction and the staff are excited to push forward with the Foundation’s work.”
