31 Jul WALKING FOOTBALLERS ENJOY SPECIAL SESSION WITH TOWN’S HEAD COACH!
Earlier this week, Huddersfield Town Head Coach Danny Schofield visited a special walking football session hosted by the Club’s charity, the Town Foundation!
During the visit Danny took the time to pass on his expertise to the participants, all aged 50 or above, and even took his place in midfield.
The session, which took place at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, was filmed by ITV as part of their brand new weekly EFL highlights show on Saturday evenings.
Town Foundation staff facilitate Walking Football every week at Leeds Road Sports Complex, with sessions being free to attend.
The programme is designed for those aged 50 or above and/or people recovering from an injury, with no running or jugging allowed on or off the ball.
Physical contact is also kept to a minimum to ensure that all players feel comfortable.
15 regular participants were in attendance on Tuesday, with the group being joined by Schofield and ITV presenter Aaron Paul.
Sean Downey, a regular attendee who was part of the original cohort that first took part in June 2021, said of the special session:
“Yesterday was one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences and I was so pleased that the Huddersfield Town Foundation was able to allow us to share it. Thank you.
“I know that many of my fellow attendees had a real buzz after the event and it was a real boost for our well-being.”
