Defender visits Chickenley Community School

Murray Wallace had an early kick-off on Monday morning when he attended the opening of Town Foundation’s ninth Breakfast Club!

The young, Scottish defender visited Chickenley Community School in Dewsbury to meet with the latest set of children receiving nutritious breakfasts courtesy of the Foundation.

Murray was accompanied by Club Ambassador Andy Booth who presented the children with a brand new Huddersfield Town football. Murray also signed autographs and participated in a game of football before the children headed off for their first lesson of the day.

Janet Hoyle, wife of Chairman Dean, attended the event along with Town’s Operations Director Ann Hough. Also, representatives from Foundation supporters One17 Design and Kirklees Catering Services were on hand to help the staff run the club at Chickenley.

The first initiative of the Town Foundation, ‘Early Kick-Off’ is an exciting scheme that helps ensure the young people of Huddersfield and the wider community start their day in the right way – with a healthy nutritious breakfast.

Initially the project benefited five specially selected local schools upon its launch in November 2012, but such was the initial success that the scheme has now been expanded to a further three schools.

Town Foundation’s Trustee Ann Hough commented:

“As always there was a fantastic atmosphere at the breakfast club on Monday. It was one of our best attended launches with over 50 children enjoying healthy and nutritious breakfasts courtesy of the Foundation.

“We have now served up over 15,000 breakfasts across the whole project, which is an amazing testament to the success of the scheme given the first breakfast club launched only seven months ago.

“I would like to thank everyone – businesses and individuals alike – that has made a donation to the Town Foundation to make this possible; together we are making a difference in our community.”
