01 Feb Town Helps The Next Generation
A generous Huddersfield Town fan has helped to fund the Town Foundation’s ‘Early Kick-Off’ breakfast clubs at his old school. Daron Hamilton of DAH Technology Ltd has donated £500 and also made a further pledge to provide essential kitchen equipment to enable the breakfast club at Netherhall Campus Junior School which was known as Rawthorpe when Daron was a pupil, to prosper. Daron joined Netherhall’s ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club co-ordinators Rachel Bridgeman and Teri Lamb – who are pictured proudly sporting their new HTAFC aprons – and the Town Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Taylor to celebrate the donation. DAH Technology will also be one of the match day sponsors for the upcoming home game against Charlton Athletic on Saturday 9 March, which will be the official ‘Town Foundation’ fixture. Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Taylor commented: “The Town Foundation is incredibly grateful to Daron for his support of the Netherhall Campus Early Kick-Off breakfast club. It’s a really nice touch when people can make a difference to their old school and Daron’s contribution will be very helpful to the terrific staff at Netherhall in delivering the nutritious breakfasts to pupils. “This donation is the latest example of the support that the Foundation is garnering from our local community; it’s great to see local people are embracing the vital work we undertake in such a fashion. “If anyone else wants to support a specific breakfast club that means something to them, or make a general donation to the Foundation, I’d urge them to get in touch.†The first official project of the Foundation, the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club, has already launched across the region. The Foundation has joined forces with several organisations such as Total Foodservice, Kirklees College, Kirklees Council, Caterer’s Choice, Stafflex and Kids Premiership to supply schools in the football club’s heartland with a free breakfast and NVQ level food hygiene training support. ‘Early Kick-Off’ aims to provide thousands of free breakfasts so that an initial five schools can feed their pupils every morning – completely free of charge. This equates to over 50,000 free breakfasts for local youngsters in our region – and that number will grow if the Foundation receives further donations.
