Chairman’s update on the Club’s charity
Thanks for reading my latest update on the Town Foundation – the official registered charity of Huddersfield Town.Â
The football season is now underway and so will be the new school year for many children over the next week in the Kirklees area.
Children at our 16 Early Kick-Off Breakfast Clubs will be returning to education over the next few days and the Charity needs to raise £2,500 to cover the costs of their food per week. If you would like to help support young children in your area by providing them with a healthy and nutritious breakfast, click HERE.
Remember, I will match every £1 donated to the Town Foundation!
On top of all the fixtures over the coming months, I have another big date in my diary – my first ‘Chairman’s Lunch’ on Friday 26 September.
In aid of the Town Foundation, the Club’s registered charity that aims to improve the quality of life for young people in our area, I’ve called upon two of the most forthright and outspoken Chairmen involved in English football to make it an afternoon to remember; Dr Assem Allam and Dave Whelan.Â
Dr Allam has enjoyed tremendous success during his relatively short stint as Chairman at Hull, leading the Club back to the Premier League. He’s also hit the headlines for his views on the Club’s name and judging from that, he won’t pull any punches at my lunch!Â
Dave has been involved in football for much longer and has been no less successful, with the pinnacle being Wigan’s FA Cup win only two years ago. He’s just as opinionated and honest as Dr Allam, which should make for superb listening once again.
Tables for this special lunch are still available; if you’re interested, please contact Mandy Taylor (mandy.taylor@htafc.com). Â
One event that has been completed in aid of the Town Foundation is the University of Huddersfield’s ‘Spinathon’. The team raised £237.43 and had the following to say when I spoke to them: “Our Team Hudd Spinathon was a great success with both of us thoroughly enjoying the three hour stint on the bike. It was fair to say that the participants were well and truly warn out and left a very sweaty, smelly studio. Big thanks to all of the participants for their energy levels and enthusiasm as well as raising money for a great cause. Thanks also has to be given to Chris Wilson from Sustrans for all of his support on the day and to Colin Blair for the suggestion to raise money for the Huddersfield Town Foundation. We enjoyed it so much we are hoping to run this every term throughout the academic year.â€
Finally, if you are looking to purchase a small gift for someone’s birthday or other celebration then why not purchase Redstar’s version of Smile Awhile. It is available from the Stadium Superstore and from www.htafcmegastore.com for just £3.
