Your school could be representing Huddersfield Town in the 2018/2019 Premier League Primary Stars Tournament.
The competition is open to all schools within Kirklees and the surrounding areas.
Heats will take place on 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd January 2019 with the winners of each heat being invited back to compete in a winner’s tournament (date TBC). The overall winning team in each category will go on to represent Huddersfield Town in the Premier League Primary Stars National Finals which are to be held at Molineux, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation can deliver an assembly to launch the competition in your school, with an appearance from Terry the Terrier the Huddersfield Town Mascot! The aim is to engage children in writing poetry, encouraging them to be creative and showing that poetry can be fun!
Class teachers can then deliver the main lesson as part of one of their Literacy lessons. The planning and resources including templates and examples are provided via the Primary Stars website; www.plprimarystars.com
All entries must be submitted by the 21st December 2018.
Poems can be up to 150 words long and can be any type of poems including: Acrostic, Sonnets, Limericks and even raps!
There are two competitions:
National Premier League competition
(Prizes include: National Winner Author visit to school to lead a poetry workshop, Premier League Trophy visit, Feature in paperback book (with illustrations), Framed version of poem, Kit and equipment scheme allocation)
Huddersfield Town Foundation competition.
(Prizes include; A school visit from a First Team player, appearance in the matchday programme, a signed Huddersfield Town shirt presented by the player and a player will read the winning poem aloud)

Big chant 2019 saw 2300 children learn the chants from the Stadium and come up with their own new ideas. Our partners Musica Kirklees provide the lessons to your KS2 pupils and guide them through the art of composition and song writing. Our overall winners last year were Marsden Junior School.
We expect our 2020 competition to be even bigger and better, winners will be announced at the end of February!
